GABORONE: Debswana has appointed Mr. Balisi Bonyongo as General Manager- Jwaneng Mine with effect from mid April 2007. Bonyongo is taking over from Mr Dale Ekmark who will be leaving the employment of the company to return to the United States.
Debswana takes pride in the appointment of yet another Debswana Scholarship Scheme graduate into an Executive position. Balisi has always prided himself on continuous learning and this is evident in having completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) Mineral Engineering, at Leeds University in the United Kingdom in 1991 as well as a Masters in Business Administration Degree from the University of Cape Town, which he completed in 2002. He was sponsored for both of these degrees by Debswana.
Mr Bonyongo has always been willing to take on new challenges and rises to the opportunity to look at issues from a holistic point of view. An example of this is the past appointments as: Technical Office Manager (at DESS), Treatment Manager at Jwaneng Mine, Divisional Metallurgist, Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Superintendent and Mineral Processing Engineer.
Mr Bonyongo was promoted into his current position of Strategy Manager in 2006, following his successful role in development of the North Star Strategy as part of the Project team.
