Debswana has established an Ethics Hotline for confidential and anonymous reporting of unethical or fraudulent activities by the Company’s employees or its key stakeholders. The facility will offer a more comprehensive and independent anti-corruption platform with enhanced anonymity and a wider range of communication channels.
The Hotline, which was launched for Debswana employees in August 2007, has now been rolled out to the company’s stakeholders, so that a far broader base of reporting of unethical behaviour, both within and outside of the Group can be reported and stopped.
The purpose of the Ethics Hotline is to promote the company’s commitment to transparency, integrity and accountability as embraced in its Code of Business Conduct.
Debswana is committed to lawful and transparent business practices that are underpinned by honesty and integrity. This commitment does not only seek to create a conducive and stable working environment for everyone but to also ensure Debswana’s continued success and contribution to the further development of Botswana.
The operator of the Ethics Hotline, Tip-offs Anonymous™, is totally independent of Debswana and is used by a number other organisations, both within Botswana as well as in the sub-region. The operator guarantees complete confidentiality and anonymity to all callers. Therefore, everyone is at total liberty to disclose information in good faith, without malice and not for personal gain.
