DEBSWANA FINANCES THE ZEBRAS

   

GABORONE: Financed by Debswana to the tune of P250 000, the senior national football team, the Zebras, left for a two-week training session in Belgium.


The trip is in preparation for the 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi to be played in Gaborone in March.
Botswana Football Association president, Phillip Makgalamele said in a press conference that the team has arranged for match practices with teams both in and around Belgium being a friendly in Netherlands against Russian giants, Spartak Moscow. Another game will be against Belgian side, Westlo FC.


He said the BFA chose Belgium because of the good standards of football prevailing in that country. Makgalemele indicated that they have also arranged with some scouts to go and watch the players.


The team comprises of 19 players and 7 team officials.
