Debswana hosts ‘Leadership’ seminar for local Human Resources Directors
Page Content
08 July, 2011
Debswana hosted about 20 Human Resources Directors to a leadership workshop at its Head Office in Gaborone on the 8th July 2011..
The seminar saw the Human Resources executives ponder on the topic ‘Does Leadership Matter’, exploring eight (8) truths about leadership and the implications for this on building leadership in African companies. Some of the issues discussed were characteristics that make a great leader and how leaders impact company performance.
“Debswana strives to be a high performance company as espoused in its ‘Debswana 2013 and beyond: A High Performance Organisation’ strategy. It is therefore critical to collaborate and network with institutions that are also excellence driven in order for us to learn from one another how we can each take our companies to greater heights. Our vision is to be a global benchmark diamond company and that will be eroded if we do not collaborate with and learn from local entities who are key stakeholders in our business,” said the company spokesperson, Esther Kanaimba- Senai.
Companies that participated to this seminar are Barclays Bank, Botswana Development Corporation, Standard Chartered Bank, Botswana Tourism, Stanbic Bank, Bank of Botswana, Puma Energy, CEDA, Air Botswana, KBL, Botswana Power Corporation, Mascom, BEDIA, AFA, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, FNB, DTCB, Metropolitan, Botswana Insurance Company, Botswana Housing Corporation and the International Human Resources Management body.
The seminar precedes another leadership and talent development session which the company will host on July 12
th
, involving some of its high-potential leaders.
