Debswana’s recommitment to Corporate Social Investment (CSI) saw the re-launch of its new CSI policy in 2006. The new policy ensures that the company partners with communities towards their own sustainability through the provision of skills and other resources.

Investing in their future Through its Corporate Social Investment Programme, Debswana touches the lives of many in Botswana. |
The new policy is in line with Debswana’s position to seek to maintain a profitable business environment while at the same time enhancing its reputation and the well being of the communities in which it operates, as well as the country in general.
The CSI programme will as far as practicable provide a link for accountability for the organisation to the company’s board. In addition it will comprise community representation (where necessary) to ensure projects are taking into account and consulting the community in appropriate ways and that the views obtained are reflected in decisions made. Government representation will also be included to ensure alignment with government strategies and with the aim of facilitating partnership between government and Debswana.
The CSI project is treated as an integral component of Debswana’s business activities and complements other business processes and strategies
