As it realizes that its employees are its most valuable asset Debswana is committed to ensuring their wellbeing and as such enable, empowers and rewards them.
To this end, the company has adopted a localisation programme, through which it ensures that employment opportunities are created for Botswana citizens. It is as a result of this program that over 90 percent of new posts within the company have been filled by Batswana.
Training and development form an important part of Debswana's management strategy, Technical, management and supervisory skills are advanced through assignments within the company, as well as by external exposure. Adult education and participation in apprenticeship schemes are also encouraged to ensure the building of a well informed and skilled workforce.
Debswana acknowledges that its responsibilities go beyond providing employment. As such it encourages its employees to make a greater overall contribution to society in the years that they are in the employ of the company. Further, Debswana is committed to its people's continued health and safety.
