Senior Human Resources Manager – Cultural Transformation and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Ms. Kefilwe Mokone resourced a panel discussion today at Women in Mining Botswana (WiMBO) Pitso tackling the topic, ‘Shaping the future: Advancing Gender Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Mining Industry.’ Ms. Mokone shared insight into the different work packages and successes that Debswana has had in embedding diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) as well as belonging, in its DNA. She spoke on the importance of targets for DEI and belonging programmes and that it is imperative for these to be measured at the highest level in any organisation.
Ms. Mokone also highlighted the challenges facing DEI and belonging programmes such as the lack of legislation and little to no representation in decision-making bodies.
Alongside Ms. Mokone, as a fellow panelist, was Ms. Ketshephile Cocktail from Lucara, with Ms Tiny Kgatlwane moderating the discussion.
