Jwaneng Mine recently had the pleasure of hosting the Botswana Diamond Manufacturers Association (BDMA). The visit allowed the BDMA team to gain a deeper appreciation of the mine’s operations, recognizing their important role as stakeholders in the diamond value chain.
Welcoming the delegation, Jwaneng Mine General Manager, Mr. Goitseone Gadifele, presented an overview of the mine — highlighting where Botswana’s diamond journey begins, its impact on the nation and its people, and the vision for the future.
On behalf of the BDMA, Chairman Mr. Siddarth Gothi expressed the team’s gratitude for the opportunity to witness firsthand where Botswana’s precious stones come from. He further noted that they were grateful to have been taken through all the mine processes, as BDMA members are deeply familiar with the journey from receiving rough diamonds to polishing them — making it valuable to understand the full pipeline.
The BDMA team was impressed and commended the mine’s leadership for its robust safety measures, as well as its inclusive approach in hiring women and persons with disabilities.
