JWANENG MINE TAKES PART IN CULTURAL HERITAGE PRESERVATION

Jwaneng Mine General Manager Goitseone Gadifele reaffirmed the Mine’s commitment to socio-economic growth and preservation of cultural heritage by taking part in the Macheng Bushfire Festival held in Hukuntsi. The cultural activity included a bush walk and a night event that showcased Botswana’s rich traditional heritage marked by performances from various local artists. 

In his official opening address, Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Honourable Ketlhalefile Motshegwa urged communities to explore ways of commercializing cultural heritage activities. He outlined that cultural activities provide opportunities to boost socio-economic development of communities thereby changing livelihoods for a better future.

As part of making life brilliant, Jwaneng Mine will continue taking part in recognizing the value of cultural activities that foster national pride and community cohesion. The Macheng Bushfire Festival provided a pleasant tribute to our enriched local traditions. Beyond the bush walk and the cultural night event, other activities included horse-riding, motorcycling challenges in the pan, information sharing from different government and private entities.
