Debswana’s Orapa, Letlhakane & Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) recently joined the nation in celebrating Teachers’ Day by honouring educators with a 5-kilometre walk and a Gala Dinner.
Ahead of the official Teachers’ Day celebration, OLDM hosted a Gala Dinner to recognise teachers from Orapa schools. Speaking at the event, OLDM Assistant General Manager, Mr. Ditiro Lentswe, commended teachers for their dedication and innovation. He also highlighted the need for improved sports infrastructure in schools to support holistic education.
Lentswe also celebrated OLDM’s significant achievements in education over the past year. He noted that students had excelled in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), delivering outstanding results that reflect the commitment and hard work of both students and their teachers.
Delivering the event’s keynote address, Dr. Khumoetsile Mapitse, CEO of PULA MED, stressed the importance of investing in teachers’ professional development and well-being. For his part, OLDM Senior Human Resources Manager, Mr. Boitumelo Senyane, who was also the chief walker during the walk, applauded teachers for their hard work and consistent achievements over the years.
The celebrations culminated in a 5-kilometre walk on Teachers’ Day, bringing together educators and the community in a spirit of appreciation and unity.
