Debswana Managing Director Andrew Maatla Motsomi this morning shared insight into the direction the Company is taking, as well as the medium to long term plans through a presentation titled ‘Securing the Future of Debswana Amidst Industry Challenges: Maintaining a High Performance Culture & Resilience in the Face of Transformation’.
Mr. Motsomi shared with the audience that Debswana is confident of the next chapter because work is going into securing the future of the company. “Debswana is building a more agile, efficient and responsive business, fit for volatile environments. We are reimagining our Smart Mine delivery, integrating ESG principles from design to operation and disrupting our core, before others do it for us. This is a mindset shift, from extraction to innovation, from stability to agility, and from short-term margins to long-term stakeholder value”, said Mr. Motsomi.
In acknowledgement growing headwinds that threaten to make Debswana a less profitable version of itself, Mr. Motsomi said their response is intentional and forward-looking. “We are transforming not just to survive, but to lead. Work is on track to deliver Jwaneng Underground to secure long-term revenue as Cut 9 concludes,” he further said.
The Managing Director also focused on learnings from the successes and innovations that the Company achieved, key developments, major capital projects and transition to underground mining, the adoption of cutting-edge technology and innovative funding models and partnerships, all while maintaining Debswana’s culture of high performance and resilience amidst an ever-changing industry landscape.
