The Minister of Minerals and Energy, Honourable Bogolo Joy Kenewendo opened The Future of Mining Summit 2025 earlier today.
Delivering a keynote address at the event, Honourable Kenewendo said that Botswana must lead the global conversation in mining and that all stakeholders, including government and private sector must collaborate to position the country as the premium brand in mining. She said that Botswana’s approach to use diamonds and other minerals for development remains a global benchmark. The minister also shared on initiatives that Government of Botswana is undertaking to revitalize the mining sector including opening up opportunities in base metals and rare earth minerals and most importantly Botswana’s leadership in championing the rebound and strengthening of the Natural Diamonds industry.
The event runs from 16 to 17 June 2025 at Boipuso Hall under the theme NEW OPPORTUNITIES, SMART PARTNERSHIPS.
