Letlhakane Public Library Celebrate First 2025 Graduates in Skills Development Programme
In a warm and uplifting ceremony, Letlhakane Public Library recently celebrated the graduation of participants who completed skills-development programmes in crocheting and basic Iinformation and Communication Technology (ICT).
The ceremony which was attended by Debswana Orapa Letlhakane and Damtsha Mines Senior Corporate Affairs Manager, Dineo Seleke, marked the successful completion of a three-month crocheting course and a six-weeks basic ICT training programme, both aimed at empowering community members through practical, income-generating skills. A total of 160 graduates were honoured, 39 from crocheting programme and 121 for basic ICT during the library’s first certificate awarding ceremony of 2025.
This milestone was made possible through Debswana’s Orapa, Letlhakane, and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) generous donation of ICT equipment to the Letlhakane Public Library late last year. The contribution which comprised five computers, a colour printer, a projector, a whiteboard, and certificate paper has significantly expanded the library’s training capacity, enabling it to accommodate up to 240 trainees annually, up from 120. Consequently, the waiting list for ICT training has seen a notable reduction, reflecting the immediate impact of this investment in community development. Through this initiative, Debswana is transforming potential into progress, enhancing digital literacy, nurturing creative craftsmanship, and fostering economic resilience and self-reliance within the community.
