The Assistant General Manager of Debswana’s Orapa, Letlhakane, and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM), Mr. Ditiro Lentswe, has commended the Botswana Softball Masters Association (BOSMA) 2025 Orapa Challenge organizers for hosting a successful four-day tournament in Orapa from 28th to 31st May 2025.
Delivering the keynote address at the awards ceremony Mr. Lentswe expressed his appreciation to BOSMA for choosing Orapa as the host town for such a prestigious international event. “At OLDM, we are on a journey to make Orapa a great place to live, work, and visit,” he stated.
He further applauded BOSMA’s philanthropic efforts, noting that proceeds from the tournament would be used to donate clothing to Khwee Primary School. The Assistant General Manager further said that this noble act resonates with Debswana’s purpose of Making Life Brilliant. Mr. Lentswe also highlighted that the OLDM Ore Processing Department had recently donated revision materials and sports kits to the same school, making BOSMA’s contribution a welcome complement. “To perform well, especially during the winter season, students need warm clothing,” he added.
Mr. Lentswe congratulated the winning teams, acknowledging their success as a result of dedication and perseverance.
For his part Member of Parliament for Boteti West, Hon. Sam Digwa, hailed BOSMA for its continued support of community initiatives. He encouraged the association to broaden its impact, particularly in youth development across the country.
The tournament featured 16 teams: nine from Botswana, six from South Africa, and one from Lesotho. On the field, Free Souls from Gaborone emerged as the Ladies’ Champions, while Kalahari Desert Kings from Jwaneng clinched the Men’s Championship title. Both teams showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
