The Supply Chain Management Department at Jwaneng Mine recently visited Lefhoko Village as part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement and partnership building. The visit also provided an opportunity to formally introduce the newly Senior Supply Chain Manager for Jwaneng Mine, Ms Ponatshego Bobeng, to the village leadership and broader community.
During the visit, the team toured key areas of the village and extended their support to Lefhoko Play Group through the donation of 17 chairs and 39 bicycles. Handing over the items, Ms Bobeng highlighted the importance of investing in early childhood development, expressing confidence that the furniture and bicycles would contribute to creating a more supportive, safe and engaging learning environment for young children.
The programme continued with a meet-and-greet session at Lefhoko Primary School, where the team interacted with the School Head and teaching staff. The engagement provided a platform to better understand the school’s needs and explore areas of collaboration. In support of learner welfare, the department donated sanitary pads to be included in the school’s emergency kit, helping to ensure that learners are supported with dignity and care.
Overall, the visit underscored the Supply Chain Management Department’s dedication to making a meaningful impact beyond mining operations, strengthening community ties, supporting education, and fostering sustainable partnerships with local institutions.
