Debswana’s Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) led by finance Department recently hosted budgeting and planning for employees and business partners, leveraging on the June 16 theme: “Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights: Progress Since 2010.”
Officiating at the event, OLDM Assistant General Manager Mr. Lentswe Ditiro applauded Finance department, for leveraging on their skills sets, and finding the need to impart those on others.
Opening the event, Senior Finance Manager Ms. Chipo Petros stated that the Finance team found it timely and fitting to pause and reflect on the role they play in supporting children’s future. Given the theme’s focus on children, back to school was the dress code for the event, spotlighting the need to target and consider children in the planning and budgeting processes.
“As finance professionals, we are key enablers of strategic resource allocation. It is vital that we reflect not only on what we give children today but also on the kind of foundation we are laying for their tomorrow,” she said.
Giving the closing remarks, Senior Innovation and Transformation Manager, Mr. Merafhe Moemedi, expressed gratitude to all participants and emphasized the importance planning and budgeting. He said the June 16 theme challenges finance professionals to go beyond the numbers and remember that their work has a real impact on future generations,” he said.
