Local Company EH Construction was on Friday unveiled as the Orapa Annual GMs Charity Walk 2025 diamond sponsor.
Speaking at a media briefing in Gaborone, Orapa GM’s Walk Chairperson Boitumelo Senyane said the target is to raise 6 million pula in this year’s charity walk and attract 4000 walkers. He said to date a number of organizations have already committed to support this year’s Charity Walk, with EH Construction being the diamond sponsor at with P1 million. Senyane appealed to other corporates to come on board and support the by sponsoring the walk , for them to be able to reach the set target.
Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) General Manager Mogakolodi Maoketsa said, Debswana exists to make life brilliant now and beyond diamond mining, and therefore want to build sustainable communities through partnering in areas of health, education, water and sanitation, livelihoods among others. Maoketsa said , the funds raised through this year’s GM’s Charity Walk will go towards addressing water challenges experienced in Boteti. He said in 2024, OLDM committed to fund the refurbishment of a Theatre at Rakops Primary Hospital to meet regulatory requirements at a cost of P4.2 million through the proceeds of the GM’s Charity Walk and the refurbishment commenced in June 2025 and the is expected to be completed by end of September 2025 with revised total cost of P5.3 million.
He further indicated that another project that has been funded through the proceeds of the GM’s Walk is the Mmea Classroom Block currently being constructed at a cost of P2.6 million, expected to address acute shortage of classrooms and improve academic performance.
For his part, EH construction Director Markos Anthony Markides said as a company they believe in community upliftment and social impact, therefore they invest in communities to ensure that no one is left behind. Markides said the walk for water initiative by the Orapa GMs walk is more than a symbolic walk, but a raring call for all to protect, preserve and provide this precious resource.
