EMPOWERING FUTURES: 35 YOUTH GRADUATE FROM JWANENG MINE’S DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Jwaneng Mine, in partnership with Stepping Stones International, recently celebrated the graduation of 35 young people from the Economic Advancement and Leadership Program.

The six-month program focused on out-of-school and unemployed youth aged 18 to 25, aiming to equip them with socio-emotional skills, self-confidence, leadership, motivation, and resilience, while also introducing them to practical tools for economic empowerment.

In her speech to the graduates, Segaetsho Shado Moofise, Environmental Manager at Jwaneng Mine, stated, “You must be prepared to confront both challenges and opportunities. With the strong foundation you have established, approach them with confidence and perseverance.”

The ceremony included compelling personal testimonies, poetry, and the presentation of certificates.

It was attended by officials from the Jwaneng Town Council and the local business community. The event highlighted the transformative impact of the program and reaffirmed Debswana’s commitment to investing in people, going beyond just mining.
