DEBSWANA AWARD TOP PERFORMERS AT THE 10TH BIUST GRADUATION CEREMONY

Debswana Senior Manager – Citizen Economic Empowerment Programme, Mr. Wanatsha Moakufi awarded two top students Ms. Tawana Elizabeth Sibanda and Ms. Maitumelo Motlotlegi under the categories, Best Student in Bachelor of Engineering – Chemical Engineering and Best Student in Bachelor of Engineering – Mining Engineering respectively, at the Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST) Graduation Ceremony. The Debswana awardees received P10, 000 each. The auspicious event was held under the theme ‘Charting New Orbits: Igniting Innovation, Entrepreneurship, National Development and Pride. 

The keynote address was delivered by the acting President and Vice President of the Republic of Botswana and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ndaba Gaolathe. In his address preceding the conferment of qualifications and awards, His Honour the Vice President encouraged the graduates to illuminate the country with their “Promethean fire”. He went on to share the government vision that Botswana does not want to be standing at the margins of global progress and that the country is moving to position itself at the centre. He further encouraged BIUST to offer programmes that will create a transformative legacy for the country.

The Minister of Higher Education Honourable Mr. Prince Maele also addressed the congregation.
